6 Years with Friedreich's Ataxia

August 19, 2019

6 years ago today, I heard the words “Friedreichs Ataxia” for the first time. Since that day, I’ve barely had a waking moment where I’m not thinking about it on some level. It has creeped into every area of my life and changed my world in ways I never thought possible.

I won’t say that I’m grateful for August 19, 2013, but I am so blessed to have the life I had since that day. I have two beautiful, healthy, strong-willed, energetic, smart and funny kiddos. I have the best husband on the face of the earth. I have the most supportive family and encouraging friends.

I choose celebrate all the beautiful aspects of my life today and everyday. FA has taken away a lot and changed a lot, but it has also made me stronger. And for that, I’m grateful.

If the next 6 years bring about the full time use of a wheelchair, I will keep singing praises and counting my blessings. If the next 6 years brings a cure for FA, I will throw the party of the century!

🥂 here’s to celebrating the good 🥳 and rolling (literally) with the bad. ♿️💗🥰
